I am a sponsor now!

I have to tell you about something kind of exciting. Several weeks ago I had read an article about Women for Women International. Basically the way it works is that you agree to sponsor a woman in another country who has been impacted by war. You send a monthly donation that pays for her to get into this program that provides support, job training, rights awareness, etc. You also exchange letters with each other. So I signed up and today I finally got my sponsorship package!

The woman I'm sponsoring is named Saime, she lives in Kosovo, she's 43 and has 3 children. The only education she has received was some primary school, and she cannot read or write more than her name. She has lost more than 1 family member to war. The packet included a lot of other information about her but I won't go into a ton of detail here. I look forward to corresponding with her -- they have translators who will read the letters to those who are illiterate.

Women for Women helps women in several different countries -- Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Columbia, Congo, Iraq, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Sudan are the others. When I signed up, I didn't specify a country and instead checked "the area of greatest need".

I've always wanted to save the world and I know I can't do that, but I do hope I can help this one other person a bit.

Cool, that's an awesome thing to do.

You can save the world! That's how it gets saved - but everybody doing their little bit. And judging by what I know of you, you are a little higher up the 'saving the world' scale than most people I know <333

Thanks. :) I really do hope I can make a small difference in Saime's life.
