Day 3 of 5: Slash Meme
I really will try to keep this section short since I’ve written reams about them in my LJ since June!
DAY THREE: RIPTIDE/AZAZEL (X-MEN FIRST CLASS)
How did I first get into this pairing?

nytshd3 told me that not long ago, a friend of hers finally watched First Class. He was incredulous that I shipped these two characters who have so little screen time and don’t directly exchange any dialog with each other. I ship these two like mad but I do understand such a reaction.
I can’t say why, but a few days after I first saw the movie, I got it in my head that they were a pair and that notion has clung to me ever since.
Have I written about them?
Latest count is 15 fanfics, 3 smutfics, 3 ficlets/drabbles, and about 6 crack!fics/other anon fillings of prompts.
What I do like about them?
They are meant to be together! They just are. I watch them and I know it. I know they are two sides of the same coin. And fortunately for them, unlike Cherik, they want the same thing and are aligned with each other perfectly. Their boss is killed at the end of the movie, they just need to silently exchange an ‘I’ll go if you go’ look to convey that they are off to join Magneto, and it doesn’t really matter to them where they go as long as they are together.
Can I also add that they just look really good together?
Where’s the fandom at nowadays?
I founded a comm for them and it’s been quite active. I do expect the activity to wane a bit at some point; there’s just not that much canon material with these two. But a lot of other fans have been writing fanfic, making fanvids, doing fanart, and joining in discussions. So I think we can keep this pairing alive for a while. I hope the second movie will provide a bit more screen time for Azazel and Riptide.
