Fandom meme

Fandom meme, ganked from [livejournal.com profile] lady_lyca!

FIVE favorite fandoms:
01. Firefly
02. Jem
03. X-Men
04. (don’t have another one)
05. (don’t have another one)

FOUR favorite ships from your fandoms:
01. Zoe/Wash
02. Simon/Kaylee
03. A tie: Rogue/Gambit and Storm/Wolverine (This is just my way of getting more than four ships in here. And while I’m cheating, I can also mention that I love Jean/Cyclops too)
04. Stormer/Roxy (though there are several other Misfit combinations I like, and I also like the idea of Stormer and Roxy being “just” good friends too)

THREE things from your fandoms you wish were real:
01. I wish the Misfits were a real band. I would so love to see them in concert.
02. I wish the X-men really existed but there were no “evil” mutants and instead the X-men could just work on solving the problems that the world has now (they could be similar to UN peacekeeping troops, except they could actually be, you know, effective. The gang-rapists in Congo and Sudan and the whole Taliban wouldn’t stand a chance now!)
03. As much as I love Firefly, I really don’t wish for anything in that ‘verse to be real! It’s pointless to even wish for the characters to be real because so much of what shapes them and their interactions has to do with the miserable ‘verse and circumstances they live in.

TWO things you hate/dislike about your current favorite fandoms:
Just two?? How the hell am I supposed to get this down to just two?
01. What happened to Wash in the damn movie
02. The way the whole rest of the Serenity movie was so different from the TV series (e.g. – the Tams ready to leave the crew, the rest of the crew so ready to let them go, Book having already departed, just the fact that the crew had been definitely moving in a functional direction in the TV series, only to appear wildly dysfunctional for the movie.)

(Honorable mentions: In Jem, the fact that the Misfits were pushed aside in favor of the Stingers and that there’s so much about the Misfits we never learn [how they get together in the first place, more about Roxy and Stormer’s backgrounds, etc]. In X-men, I take back the compliments I paid to the third movie and I now recognize it as a disaster. But I’m primarily a fan of the animated series, and I liked it a lot except for what happened to Xavier at the end).

ONE fandom you wish you were into:
01. Babylon 5. I suppose all I need to do is buy the DVDs

Amen to that! La la la! *plugs ears, covers eyes* I'm not watching this part!

Oh, I'm in total denial myself. Months ago I posted something, before you joined my f-list. I wrote that I was watching the movie a 4th time, with my girlfriend. At some point during the final standoff with the Reavers, right before River turns all Slayer on them, I said to Doris, "I can't believe that with everything they went through in this movie, they all survive."

Doris just turns and looks at me. I went "oops". I have so completely convinced myself that Wash didn't die that it doesn't register at all.
yubsie: (Wash fun)

Something happened to Wash in the movie? What on EARTH are you talking about! :p

[identity profile] lady-lyca.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing happened! They had a party! Punch and pie were served! XP

[identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! The last 20 minutes or so that we saw were just feverish ravings from Joss's mind. The real Wash is alive and well on board Serenity!
yubsie: (Kaylee peachy keen)

[personal profile] yubsie 2007-05-14 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! And there was something IN the punch! That's why there's those mumblings about something happening to Wash!

[identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Joss was the main consumer of the hallucinogens in the punch. Fortunately the rest of the fandom realizes that Joss was stoned when he wrote that bad thing that happened, and that the Firefly storyline's last scene looks pretty much like the last scene of "Objects in Space" instead.

what happened to wash DID NOT HAPPEN.

i would go see the misfits with you. i think i have one of their songs on my ipod. oh childhood XD ['winning is everything', i think :P]

what happened to wash DID NOT HAPPEN.

I'm right there with you!

You know, "Winning is Everything" isn't even one of the Misfits' best songs. They have many that are a lot better.

[identity profile] fireflyfailure.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll have to look for other songs by them then, i dont remember the other titles! dang it!

[identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The best website for that fandom is Britrock. Go to:

http://www.etherella.com/britrock/

From the menu on the top, click on "Lyric Database", then select Misfits. You'll see a listing of all their song titles there.

The Misfits...

[identity profile] garbagecanmusic.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm...the Misfits ARE a real band. Not to mention a very, very influencial band. :)

Re: The Misfits...

[identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I know there is a real band called the Misfits but I am referring to one in an animated TV series from the 80's that is not a real group.

*chuckles* I figured you knew...I was being silly...

You know, I've seen like 100 Jem shirts in the past year...

there was MUCH squeeing over the dolls & bible and such at the JemCOn table at ACEN. I'm getting really jazzed that all sorts of folks are gonna come to the con who never would have known about it otehrwise....

Great! It should be a fun couple of days.

Hey, can we registration yet for the con?

I wish the Misfits were a real band. I would so love to see them in concert.

I completely hear this. Can you imagine how much a Misfits concert would rock??

[identity profile] schizoauthoress.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody climb up onto those towers, though...remember what happened to Krissie!

[identity profile] denisia.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
*chuckle* TWICE! She didn't learn the first time she got stuck up there, either! :)

[identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
The part of her brain that allows one to learn from past experiences has this weird quality that means it doesn't always work...

[identity profile] taraljc.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
yet I'd still take Krissie oevr pretty much over any other Starlight Girl any day of teh week.

[identity profile] schizoauthoress.livejournal.com 2007-05-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well...her or one of the quiet ones. ^_^
