Fire escape

Do any of you live in a house that has a second floor? Do you have a fire escape?

We have an upstairs and are trying to figure out if we should get something like this.

Yes, I do. No, I don't. Though, if push came to shove, we could probably exit onto the garage roof from one of the b/r windows, and then down to the ground from there.

That? Looks like a good idea if you're at all concerned about fires. :)

Thanks for sharing what you got.

Looks like it couldn't hurt to have one. :)

I saw my neighbors messing with on of those things ... he almost dropped his daughter out of the second story window ...

Was there a fire? Or was he just trying to figure out how to set it up?

they were testing it out.

Scary!

Personally I wouldn't get that, I know I can make the drop down without too bad injuries and that would just tempt me to play with it, even in a fire I'd probably fall anyways because I have no balance. Get one if you're all paranoid of fires, it can't hurt.

*nods* That makes sense to me.

you're really supposed to come up with an emergency plan (and this will become even more important once you adopt).. so, for example, if there's a fire and you're in separate parts of the house, you have a place to meet up (outside) so you'll know if someone is still in the house. you can get information at ready.gov for disaster planning. just something to consider (sez the person in charge of the business continuation plan at work :))

Makes good sense!
