Zay-vee-er unless it's in "Saint Francis Xavier University" then it's Ex-Zay-vee-er or just "boo hiss". :p

I didn't know that when people say the University's name they do start it with the "ex" sound.

I think it might be because the most common way of referring to it is "Saint FX". Otherwise I would expect the French pronunciation since it's in the Maritimes.
