3 Things

1. I was able to switch to the convention rate for my hotel room for The 100 con I'm going to in April. (Long story short, when I booked my ticket to the con, the hotel room block was sold out. I debated what to do, decided I didn't want to risk not getting a room at the official hotel, so I booked a room at the regular rate, which was almost double. But today I saw their tweet where they said they made the room block bigger, I called the hotel, and they switched me to the rate!!)

2. And I feel slightly better regarding one aspect of fanfic. I looked through some other 100 fanfics. The ones with a lot of reviews tend to be AUs, Harry Potter crossovers, Hunger Games crossovers, etc. And there are plenty of fics like mine that don't have many reviews. So I feel a twinge better?

3. Okay let's do a non-100 one. A political candidate who I'm volunteering for already got enough signatures to get her onto the ballot. That's good.

Awesome! The con rate for DragonCon is crazy high but it's also the entire hotel :) I hope the 100 con is great!

I find it interesting that crossovers are so popular in the 100 fanfic (though maybe they're just popular in all fanfic?). Like, I enjoy my mashed up teeshirts that have two or more of my favorite franchises on it, but I don't know how I'd feel about a crossover story. Anyway, it's good to see the pattern, even if it is disappointing and frustrating.

lol. The entire hotel, plus the four closest hotels, plus two additional "mart" buildings... though with 85,000 people, you gotta put em all SOMEWHERE right? :) Did Tina and her family have fun btw? One year there was a college football game in the area on the same weekend, plus some big concert, and the whole area was a complete disaster. Also, since you have to either have a D/C badge or a room key to get into the hotels, there were some folks that were staying at the hotels that were there for the game and they were not friendly or respectful to the D/C folks (though they were vastly outnumbered). It really only happened one year so I don't know if they've made some kind of effort to not have local games on that weekend or if it's just worked out better (or if the hotels sell out far enough in advance that it hasn't been an issue other than that one year).
