Knee problems (again)

When I was younger, I used to not always enjoy the company of older people because I felt they often complained about physical ailments. I think I'm getting what I deserve now.

My right knee continues to pop when I climb stairs. It's been basically okay when I'm not climbing, but my gut tells me that the popping isn't just going to magically go away. I guess it's time to call the chiropractor.

I was thinking about your knee yesterday while running. I think the chiropractor is a great idea, but I think it might also be a good idea if you went to your GP and had them take a look at it, too. If nothing else, it will give you a baseline so that if, God forbid, it gets drastically worse, you'll be able to chart the progress and be best able to determine therapies/treatments.

What do you think?

Wow, thank you for thinking of me, seriously. I think you are right. The problem is that I don't really have a GP. I have someone I went to once when I had strep so I could get antiobiotics...she seemed ok but I can't really say I have a relationship. Whereas with the chiropractor, I know her and really trust her.

Maybe I'll call my chiro's office and ask if they think this should/could be handled by them or if they think I should see a GP. Also, my company offers a Nurseline where you can talk to a nurse for free. I'll call them and ask what they think.

Thank you for the food for thought!

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] sarahetc. Maybe your chiro can refer you to an orthopedist, assuming that your insurance doesn't require a referral to a specialist? If Heaven forbid anything is wrong with the knee that needs to be fixed, an ortho is where you will end up anyway--if the chiro knows and trusts someone in that field maybe they could give you a heads up.

Great points.

The last few days, the popping noise has been way reduced; I'll go for a while without it happening. But...I probably will need to do something eventually; I doubt this is just going to magically go away forever.
