-- During the last few weeks, two coworkers of mine have resigned. Neither was someone who I was close to. It just feels weird that during the time I've been with the company, new people have joined the department and have subsequently left of their own volition. So I was here before they started and I've stayed longer than they have. (But well, duh I've been here 11 years, so what do I expect? Not everyone stays with a company that long).

-- Over the weekend, Doris and I went to a party for a relative of hers named Hope, and it was hosted by Hope's mom Elizabeth. Elizabeth is 65. Maybe aging won't be so bad. She's in good health, has a lovely home, is retired and so has time to do things she loves like gardening, spending time with family, and making coffee dates with friends. Honestly, after hanging out with her I could almost look forward to my sixties! Seriously. My friend Sally, who is in her seventies, is the same way as Elizabeth, come to think of it.

-- I may have mentioned before that my company allows you to take an 8 week paid sabbatical for every 10 years of full time service. Mine starts April 16. Over the weekend, it finally hit me. Holy shit, I have 4 weeks to get a boatload of work done!! Deep breath. I'll get it all done somehow. But wow.

-- Finally, please send good thoughts and wishes to a friend of mine. She's had bad luck after bad luck -- a relative dying suddenly, her not getting a job that she was told she was going to get. I dearly hope things turn around for her. She's such a wonderful person.
