My favorite drag queen moments
Mar. 9th, 2013 08:47 amI wanted to share a few of my favorite drag queen moments. The problem is that the queens are at their best on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Although I have many objections to the show (questionable judging, for one, plus Ru is really an egomaniac), I will say this – Ru has definitely elevated the game. He has moved drag from drunk queens lip-synching at bars to featuring well-rounded queens who can sing, sew, act, be funny and be articulate spokeswomen. So the best drag queen moments are on logotv.com where you can watch full episodes of his show.
But here are a few of my favorite moments that you don’t need to watch the whole episode to see.
Can I Get An Amen -- Ru has the queens do an 80’s, ‘We are the World’ style charity single. Featuring RuPaul, Coco Montrese, Alyssa Edwards, Jade Jolie, Ivy Winters, Jinkx Monsoon, Roxxxy Andrews, Detox, and Alaska. Some can sing, some can't but who cares? Brings back such memories!
Team Detox lip synch mash-up -- Ru has the queens lip-synch to remixes featuring quotes from previous seasons’ queens. This one has Detox, Alaska, Coco, and Monica Beverly Hillz. Featuring Alaska lip syncing to her partner Sharon’s words from last season, which I have to say takes some ovaries.
Alaska and Jinkx doing Cabaret -- Not from Drag Race and not a high-quality vid, and also some questionable singing ability! Yet for some reason I love this. I guess I just like the song Cabaret, and I love their attitude.
I’ve already posted links to a few of my favorite Alaska/Sharon Needles performance, so I won’t repeat them here.
