God I love the internet (also, why "stans"?)

I had been bumming because a lot of drag queens from RuPaul's Drag were performing in NY yesterday and I couldn't go. But someone's already uploaded videos with highlights from most of the performances. What the hell did I do before the internet?!!

I imagine that most of my f-list knows the answer to this and I don't but - why are "fans" now referred to as "stans?" (Is confused.)
