Three "family" moments
May. 13th, 2013 06:40 pmI'm sorry that two of these three "family" moments are Drag Race related though.
1. So it's Mother's Day yesterday and we have both sets of parents and a few other relatives over. As usual, my dad is talking. And talking and talking, hardly noticing if people are falling over with boredom as he goes on and on. I tune him out but overhear snippets. I overhear one line he says and turn to my mom and say, "It's bad news when you hear Dad say, 'After the second World War...'" Mom actually laughed, which I enjoyed.
2. As Dad went on and on, I got more and more irritated and I showed it. Doris told me to "relax-atox" which made me crack up. (I'm sorry but this is an inside joke that only a few people on here will get - let alone find remotely funny. In Drag Race, three queens formed an alliance, which they named Rolaskatox. I admired Doris's play on words).
3. I got my sister to watch Drag Race! She's seen Season 5 and most of Season 4 now. My unsentimental, hard-ass sister who rarely or never goes along with whatever fandom I'm into. (She is older! When we were kids, she tended to pick a fandom and I tended to follow. If I got into something first, she would invariably find it stupid just because). She emails me yesterday and says, "Sharon and Alaska are just way too cute together. It's obvious they love each other very much and its just nice to see." I am saving that email!
