Please help - I need you to weigh in on an etiquette question.

The parent of a friendly acquaintance just passed away. I am going to see this friendly acquaintance on Friday. Do I offer my condolences in person on Friday and still mail a card? Or do I not mail a card since I'll see him Friday?

I am leaning towards thinking it's never a bad idea to send a card. What do you think?
