1. Two coworkers who were laid off when we did 'restructing' in Dec/Jan have found new jobs. I wasn't close to either one but still it's nice to see.

2. My trip to Decatur IL and back went fine. Almost 7 hours of driving in one day over maddeningly dull landscape. (Downstate IL is just nothing exciting #notsorryboutit). I'm just glad I got home before 10pm and didn't get a flat tire in Nowhere IL.

3. Here's a fandom one. I'm glad that my favorite queen, Alaska, made it to the top 3 in her season! A queen I love was just sent packing from Season 7, and there are rumors that the other Season 7 queen I love doesn't crack top 3. I gotta be so glad that my all time favorite queen did SO well during her season!

My lovely friend <lj user="nytshd3"> showed me this post: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/95398753.html. Sorry for any spoilers for any X-men fans reading this, but apparently Iceman comes out as gay!

This is awesome in many ways. Fifteen years ago, I started writing X-men fanfic in which Iceman is gay. (I was actually re-reading one of them, "Parallels", recently and thought it still pretty good).

Northstar is even mentioned in some of the comments of that LJ post. Northstar was usually Iceman's love interest in my X-men fanfics. A long time ago, in the actual X-men comics, Northstar had a crush on Iceman but it never went anywhere. Me, I've always loved the idea of pairing them up togehter.

I haven't been super-crazy over X-men in years but it is one of the fandoms that has never, ever left me. I still love the characters, still think of them a lot (seriously!). I consider it my "home base" fandom, if that makes any sense.
