1. It's a sorry state of affairs when you're happy about this, but my state finally has a budget. After having gone longer than any other US state without a budget

2. My mother in law cooked a lot on the 4th for Ursulo's birthday, and I wasn't able to be there but she sent Doris home with a lot of (vegetarian) leftovers for me. I need to call her to thank her; they were great.

3. My commute home today took only 33 minutes instead of the usual 45. I left a little early, plus I'm sure a lot of people took the whole week off because of the holiday
