Gratitude for today, despite the hellscape that is the USA....

 
The weekend was so lovely....


Saturday:
- I did a shift at the farmer's market, staffing the Dems table. Weather was gorgeous, like 70-74 so I walked to the farmer's market and back. I shared the shift with a 16 year old named Paisley who was so awesome and so committed to making the world a better place. Then I got home, and sat on the back porch reading while Doris did her gardening. Later she went to visit her mom. I walked to the place to get a pedi, and weirdly there was no wait at all despite it being 3pm on a Saturday! I love the lilac color I got.

I loved doing all that walking in the beautiful weather. I passed so many houses with these lovely gardens and flowers. 

Sunday (today):
- Waterpark day!! I have not been swimming in ages, and I asked Doris if we could have a day to go to this place in a nearby suburb called Bensenville. We went there once a long time ago. It's a small waterpark - it's actually kinda perfect. It has 3 slides (none of them are really big), and a very large pool. We swam, we slid down the slides, we stood under this area where this water shoots at you and it kinda massages your back, then we sat in the sun on lounge chairs in the adults only section. We shared a grape icy. So much fun.

- Then we got home and were somehow famished even though it was like 2:30pm. Doris made nachos, and pizza with arugula. We ate as we watched TV. A perfect day. I hope I never let another 2-3 years pass again without going swimming.

- Also I got a massage this morning. The person who does it, Beata, is the absolute best

Also, Friday was nice
- Doris got home early from work. It was cool enough that we could open windows and (again) I could sit on the back deck while she gardened. 

Oh yeah, last Wednesday was good too 
- Mom came over. We went to the dollar store (she wanted to get art supplies), the local indie bookstore, a clothing store, Ten Thousand Villages, and one of my favorite restaurants, Munch. I bought mom a couple books at the bookstore. Also damn, there are literally 3 shelves of vegan cookbooks there! I bought 2.

Fandom stuff
- On this week's Cameo, Sachin said he's got "some great stuff coming out, and I can't wait to show you." He thanked me for being so supportive. 

Activist stuff
- Friday I did Postcards to Swing States. I mentioned doing the Dems table Saturday. And this coming Saturday, I will canvas for Lauren Underwood.
