Fangirl

 
Being a fangirl is kind of crazy and stupid, and it kinda sucks. BSG ended 20 years ago and my favorite character (Gaeta) died a horrible death. On The 100, the character who I'm currently squeeing over (Sinclair) is in a grand total of 20 episodes (out of 100 episodes!), and even when he's on, it's usually just for a few scenes.He dies a horrible death too! 6 years ago, in fact.  One of the things I liked best about Sinclair is the father/daughter bond he has with Raven, so of course I've combed YouTube and Reddit and Tumblr to see other people's appreciation of them. It's there, but come on, it's not much. 

Actually considering how minor a character Sinclair was, I'm surprised to see  any appreciation of him - but even recent stuff online does mention his bond with Raven. Fans liked it. But....no one's reading or writing fanfic about Sinclair or Gaeta, or Sinclair's bond with Raven. 

Well, what do you do about it? Keep writing your fanfics and be glad with 4 kudos on a story. I do have friends who like both characters, and that helps. Alessandro's had a long career, so I can keep searching for older roles of his. (A big chunk of his work has been animated or theater though). I've already re-watched all 20 episodes of T100 that have Sinclair in them, and I am going back through BSG for Gaeta's scenes, though that is slow-going. 

And guess what? On The Expanse, there are two characters who have a father-daughter bond like Sinclair and Raven....so I've even gone back to rewatch some of their scenes. (Different actors though. Bummer). Man, you got it bad when you rewatch something because it reminds you of something else.

Maybe try to appreciate fanning out over something that is slower paced, unlike the insanity of when The 100's last season dropped. At least I don't have to scramble to keep up with all the new content.

I did get some great feedback on my fic this week. And someone on IG maintains a very active Alessandro fan page.

I do hate that I'm not reading many actual books lately; this always happens when I get absorbed in something. But I always go back to reading.

Also - I remind myself how lucky I am that my OTP in The 100 got a happy ending. Because most couples and most ships did not!

I think there's a quote somewhere that says "Life isn't one thing after another. It's the same thing over and over again." It popped into my head when:
1. I got a craving to listen to music from Jem so I put some on, and
2. I had to smile at the way that watching BSG actually ended up getting me back into The 100!
