Holy crap the election results overall were fantastic!! I still cannot believe how well they went. Too many great outcomes for me to list them all. Dems hold the Senate. When it was expected we'd lose 30 or more House seats, our net loss will likely be in the single digits. (We might even still hold it but that looks doubtful). The Congresswoman I canvassed for won with 54% of the vote. (So did Sean Casten, who was also in a potentially-tight race). We had a nice celebration at the local Dems on Saturday. CNN summed it up: "Biden and the Democrats appear to have done something others have tried – and failed – in previous midterms: They turned the election into a choice between two parties instead of the usual referendum on the president’s party."

- Four days till I leave for the anime con!

- Doris is ok. I didn't mention on here that she tested positive for COVID on Wednesday. As of today (Monday) she has a slight cough but says she feels much better

- I was glad for technology. We were able to do game night virtually again. Doris was staying with her parents (who both have COVID too, and not to mention both of them have mobility issues), but it was nice that she could join us. I'm glad she went to take care of her parents though of course I miss her when she's not here.

- In fact, I am just glad for Doris, period. One writer/activist who I follow on Twitter, her wife just died unexpectedly. She had cancer but she'd been expected to pull through. My goodness, I am thankful for Doris.

- I was able to construct a nice Saturday despite missing Doris. As I mentioned, there was the celebration with the local Dems. (I joined it on Zoom. Even though I'm not sick, didn't want to risk anything). Then I decided to enjoy my local downtown. With a mask on, I went out and bought coworker Xmas gifts at a small shop called Olive and Well, I bought a sweater at my upscale resale shop, then enjoyed a tea and a vegan pumpkin bar at the coffeeshop.

- Speaking of sweet treats, for some reason, the person working at the donut place today gave me a free donut. When I get off the train on the way to work, there's a cute donut shop. They always have 3 vegan types (and non-vegan too), so sometimes I go in. Was the cashier a fellow vegan and that's why he gave it to me for free? Was no one else buying the vegan ones and they were desperate to get rid of them? (LOL). Who knows, but this was so nice

- Also? I love my job. My boss led a cool meeting today where it announced that our company is taking action to help people on the South and West sides of Chicago. Hanging with Lisa, Sam, and Rachel before the meeting. Catching up with Imelda and Cindy G. I just love it here.

On another note, should I stop posting about my weight and weigh-ins? Is it akin to someone walking in to a room of climate activists and talking about how much they love bacon? Is it annoying and should I just stop? I wonder.
