Random gratitude

 
- I bought the Hot Logic. What is Hot Logic? It's this portable thing that you plug into an outlet and it cooks meals like a slow cooker. You can use it on frozen, refrigerated, or room temp food. I did a test run and it works! I bought it because I have a 5-day/4-night work trip coming up and the dang hotel doesn't have microwaves in the rooms. And it's in Las Vegas where the hotel lobbies are like cities, so even if they have a microwave in the lobby, I ain't using it.

- So about that trip I mention above. Well, the good news is that I'm going. Despite the fact that it's 4 nights in Vegas and I have no great desire to be in Vegas for 4 nights, but it's important that I go. There are some bad bad office politics going on and I need to be at this event - and finally got a green light this week to go. And despite the bad bad office shit going on, I love my immediate team.

- Block party was yesterday and for once Doris wasn't working. We had so much fun! Everyone loved Doris's food, and in fact someone said, "We were waiting to see what Doris would make". (In previous years, if she had to work, she at least made something that I would bring). We hung with Bryan and Vanessa, Ann, Linda, and Christine and Brian, and Heba and Daniel. Each year we say we gotta do this more often. The neighbors really are great people. 

Fandom stuff!

- There is a convention in London in March with Shadow and Bone actors. Doris said she'd go. I think....I think we're gonna go? London feels so much easier than Paris. And we still have plenty of time to prepare. I gotta get down and make preparations.

- And my gladiator AU fic is nearly done. It reached a milestone of over 250 kudos. Another S&B fic reached the milestone of 200. I think I mentioned before a fic I wrote for an exchange. I haven't posted it yet since we can't post before Sept 1. I was so full of fire and energy when I wrote the first 2 chapters. That fire has fizzled out and the fic is stalled in chapter 3. But I might get a second wind if I get feedback when I do post. And if not, I think it can always just leave it at 2 chapters.
