Gratitude:
- Over a week ago, Doris got a colonoscopy. I was glad to be able to take the day off to drive her. She got a not-great diagnosis (it's probably Crohn's). Well, at least we have a tentative diagnosis for the various issues she's had. And on the way home, we ate at Flying Saucer, a place I've wanted to check out for ages and they had great vegan brunch items. When we got home, I was tired and we were out of a lot of produce so I had Instacart bring me some. Yay for Instacart. I was just too tired to drive to the store.
- Last weekend, Mom and I did another clean-out of her place. (And afterwards we ate at Lyfe Kitchen. Then went to Stan's Donuts because I'd heard they had a few vegan items. They had a strawberry croissant which was incredible!)
- Last weekend, Scrabble with Ann! Also I love what she is doing. Listing 50 fun things she's doing this year. Should I do the same? Or start in September and do a 51 list?
- Had my performance review. My boss said SO many nice things!! (Like the EBN reach out and the Jessica email)
- I volunteered again to do laundry for refugees. Glad to do it
- Well, I am glad that last year I decided to stay at my current employer. I found out the job at the other place was recently eliminated when they lost a client. My friend there Kari said words to the effect of 'we'd have tried to find another role for you' but it's a small company. Fate smiled upon me! I thanked Doris again for her wise counsel to stay where I was at.
Fandom stuff:
- Fanfic. I looooove my longfic and love writing it!! I have a great beta! And another friend who reads the chapters as I write them and writes me paragraphs on Tumblr about how much she loves it. And with 3 chapters posted, I'm still getting like 10 comments a chapter which is incredible. (Though it's so funny. Almost all come within the first 10 hours. After that? Crickets)
And under a new "not gratitude" section :)
- My favorite clothing store, Trends, is closing. It's a local, "upscale resale" shop, designer consignment. I don't buy clothes that often but when I do, it is (was) at Trends. I honestly don't know where I'll go to shop from here on out. Ethically, I like Eileen Fisher but it's so pricey and also not near me. Well, I guess I can find out where other upscale resale shops are near me.
- And that convention that Doris and I are flying to London for? Well, I have 2 favorite Shadow and Bone actors. Kit and Jack. Jack had never signed onto or been announced for the con; Kit was one of the guest from the get-go and we purchased a meet n greet with him. They announced yesterday that Kit has cancelled. Noooo. But then less than an hour later, they announced Jack signed on!!! (Now I just need them to answer my email and transfer my meet and greet to Jack. And I believe Kit cancelled because he's so busy - his career is really on fire now, which is good) UPDATE - They switched it! I happened to look at the page on my phone that had the meet and greet QR codes and it now has Jack's name instead of Kit's! YAY! I don't have to go chasing the organizers down!!
