7 days is great! I went out of town the other weekend and did not even take my laptop. I did no work, although I did check my e-mail because my students had an exam coming up the next week, and it was wonderful!
That sucks that your company expects you to check e-mail a lot on business trips. I mean, isn't the idea that you are still only beholden to the company for regular office hours or organized meeting activities and that your evenings are technically your own? I love my computer and all that but some days I just want to leave it behind.
