I believe there was a study* that showed when you introduce young children to each other, they don't show prejudice on the basis of gender, race or any grown-up -ism. What does bias kids against each other is smell. So, I agree, racism is learnt.
I'm aware this is essentially "the lurkers support me in email" but I couldn't even guess when or where I read this now
