I get where you're coming from. And actually, I'm surprised that neither here nor on fanfiction.net did I get more responses like this. Bottom line - in all my fic, I try to show that Azazel and Riptide are not saints. They do a lot of bad things. ('Cause you know, in the movie they were working with Shaw to nuke the whole world....not a very cool thing to do at all). So I like to bring out that they don't always make the most moral choices.
And the more I thought about their characters, the more I thought that this would be exactly how they'd behave if Angel wanted her/their daughter back.
