No need to apologize; I rather like having this kind of discussion where the characters and their motives are dissected.
It is sad that Angel gave up the fight but think of it this way. As mentioned in previous chapters, she didn't bond with the baby when she was an infant (didn't even name her). She parted with her when she was an infant and hardly visited her over the years. When she did decide she wanted Marina back, Azazel threatened her (Angel) and he and Riptide made it very clear that they wouldn't give her up. Angel asked Magneto to help her, he tried, failed...and she's pretty much out of options.
You're right though, and they are likely bad people, on some level
I think no one is all good or all bad (well, with a few exceptions). In my head, A & R make a lot of decisions I wouldn't and don't always act ethically in my book. But I do think they have some good in them too. Like most humans, a mixed, complex bag.
