Good stuff first:
- One of my Spartacus fanfics hit 150 kudos! That makes it my 2nd highest in Spartacus, and 4th highest overall
- Cake delay is A-OK. (What this means in English. The cake I'd special-ordered for Doris's and my anniversary. It was supposed to be ready this week, but I contacted them to ask if they could push it back a week since she's unexpectedly out of town. They can!)
- From the local "free to a good home" FB group, I got a ton of free tea. Many different flavors!
Not good or bad stuff, just is:
- Had a weird moment the other day when I was just flipping through figure skating vids on YouTube. In the 90's, I was really into figure skating, as a fan of course. Ran a fan club for my favorite pair and had a lot of - awesome - times with their coach. Their coach (Tamara) is still coaching! She's about 80 now. On Youtube, I saw her sitting with her current students in the area where you wait for your marks. The video was from this year. It just felt so weird....like I haven't been fannish about skating since 1998 or so. But Tamara and skating in general have just....kept going for the 2 decades that I've been away from it. Time rolls on. (And fandoms roll on). And it sure makes me feel old when I think back to one fandom or another and have to say "it's been 20 years since I was into skating." "30 years since my days of being REALLY into the B-52's", etc etc
- I lived alone from when I was 24 to 37. I'm 48 now. Doris has been in California since Monday (today's Friday). And I'm...fine. I miss her, definitely. But I'm just fine, and that's good. And thank goodness for WhatsApp including its video streaming capability. And thank goodness the AirBnb listing gave us a heads up that cell phone reception isn't good there, so we knew ahead of time to be ready to use WhatsApp.
Not good stuff:
- I'm glad Doris is there with her sister and her mom. The whole thing is so sad. And her sister had a health scare today too; I won't go into it though.
- This last item is gross. I have to write about it though. Don't read unless ok with gross!! So, last year at the gyne, we noticed a pimple-thing on my outer lips. The doctor said it's harmless, she could remove it or not, up to me. I said if it's harmless, just leave it. This week, I noticed it like doubled in size. And today? It started ooozing disgusting, smelly, yellow stuff. Like OMG, I have never before looked down and seen something like that literally oozing from my private area. OMG. In any case, called the gyne, they can get me in Monday, and they said any fever or pain before them, go to urgent care. So that's that.
The oozing has way slowed down. I hope I can still hang with friends tomorrow as planned. I just need to ensure no ooze. I refuse to visit friends if there is a 0.01% chance that anyone could smell that yellow stuff. Dear god.
