All these gratitude items against a backdrop of a reactionary Supreme Court, Project 2025, racism, voter suppression, transphobia, climate change, and that's just for starters. We might need divine intervention.
- Postcards to Swing States was going to take 4th of July weekend off, but they decided to be open on Friday July 5. That's a perfect day for me, so I can go in!
- And speaking of the 4th of July, it is weird having a day off in the middle of the week. But Doris and I are both off, and we went to the veg Chinese restaurant in China Town and had a great time!
- Sunday and Monday had gorgeous, cool weather. A last hurrah but I took long walks both days. (Now it's back to hot and humid)
Fandom!
- It's been a GOOD fandom week.
- Wrote 6,400 words in my new fic. My two beta testers both love chapter one! I love how it's coming along too. I was so happy to get their feedback
- Also, I got inspired to write more Wesper, and the new chapter got more comments than I'd thought. (And 13 new kudos). And several people on the Wesper Discord said they'd missed me, which was really nice.
- I signed up to do Fics for Palestine. Signed up to write *and* I donated to request a fic. People on the Discord liked my request and there was even a friendly fight over who will get to write it.
- Glad Interview with the Vampire got renewed for S3, but my ship got hammered in S2. I'll still watch S3 though

Date: 2024-07-05 10:52 pm (UTC)I don't know if VA still counts as a "swing" state right now, but it sure feels like one. The country in general kinda feels unhinged and unstable, know what I mean?
I got off the whole week, weirdly, due to a fluke of scheduling and holiday pay. Basically, since I work this weekend, I normally would've had Thursday/Friday off instead of Saturday/Sunday. However, since the actual holiday was Thursday, and they gave us Friday too, that gave me an extra 16 hours of holiday pay this week. SO I got to take off Tuesday/Wednesday as well. So yeah, I've been off since Monday! Got a lot of things done. Not everything on my to-do list, but close!
I finally picked up Season 1 of Interview with the Vampire from the library this week, so I can catch up. Dunno when Season 2 will be out on DVD, but I know it's still airing, so I'll just try to be patient. What ship are you shipping out of curiosity? (I've been told the big ones are Lestat/Louis vs Louis/Armand, but I'm mostly excited to see what they do with NICKY. I said years ago when they first decided to do this show that I wanted to see Nicky; he's one of my favorite characters in the books and they always leave him out. No more!)

Date: 2024-07-06 12:38 pm (UTC)I'm glad you got some extra time off! It is wonderful to get stuff done.
So I was shipping Louis/Armand. Something about that actor's portrayal of Armand....ah, it grabbed me!! I won't say anything more as I don't want to spoil you. (Unless you want more info on S2?)

Date: 2024-07-06 01:31 pm (UTC)It usually is! I did look up all my elected officials now that I'm in a new city, so I can contact them for whatever. Oh, and one of the errands I got done this week was going to DMV to get my address updated on my license, so yay! I'm in the database, and none of my previous voting locations have given me a hard time about the address not matching, but just in case. (I don't want to miss this election!)
I figured! I will say Louis/Lestat is endgame in the books, so that doesn't surprise me that much. BUT all the VC vampires are polyamorous and omnisexual, just generally, so it kinda doesn't matter. They might get back together, on and off, for decades. Technically, I am not yet "caught up" on the episode where Armand is revealed, but . . . I know who it is. I clocked him three episodes in, just based on what I know about his character from the books. It's a fascinating series to watch as a lifelong Anne Rice fan, because there's a lot they've changed, but they changed it in such a way that it still tracks a lot of the major plot beats. It's a great way to handle an adaptation. (But seriously, I am anxious to meet Nicky.)

Date: 2024-07-06 02:18 pm (UTC)Okay, good to know that Louis/Lestat is end game. (Well, I guess the ending of S2 sure made that clear to me). I LOVE that you figured out who Armand was! I hadn't read the books so I was clueless, and the big reveal was for me a very big reveal.
