LOL! Okay. I think I chose Ariel. Although Zoe and Wash don't play major roles in it (other than War Stories, what eps *do* they have big parts in??) I just love the plot. I was on the edge of my seat and nearly biting my nails during it.

Sure! I can dig your Ariel choice. I remember way back when it got voted something like the 9th best episode of television aired in 2002. It's a super-tight plot, great writing, all around good stuff. Pretty much the opposite of lame-ass The Message, you know?

to be honest, thanks to my really fast two-day hurry I can't remember one episode from another. I've recently bought it and am trying to spend more time on each episode but haven't gotten the time. I remember really liking Jaynestown. And Out of Gas was phenomenal.

I forgot to answer this! Here are my thoughts:

To try to sum it up, the main rationale is that during the pilot ep when the Reaver ship is near, Inara takes out something that looks medical. Joss says during the commentary that it is *not* a suicide kit and that it's a clue to Inara's secret. So if it's not a suicide kit, is it some medicine she takes to deal with the symptoms of a medical condition. There's also the scene in Out of Gas where she and Simon are talking and she says, "I don't want to die at all". She doesn't look at him as she says the line and in fact seems absorbed in something else entirely. (In fact, I can't remember if we were also told in DVD commentary that that scene had a clue too).

So those are the main pieces of evidence -- you couple that with her unwillingness to get attached to anyone, you may have an answer as to why a top class companion is on a ship like Serenity.

I started reading this one a while ago, never finished it, about Wash's soul getting trapped inside River's body with River. It was really well written and very interesting.
