I'm the only person on my f-list who hasn't seen the new Harry Potter movie.

(Couldn't get into the books. Have seen each of the HP movies - except the new one - exactly once. I liked them but have never gotten fannish about HP. Probably will get around to seeing the movie at some point, at least a few weeks away though).

*raises hand* I haven't seen the new film either. :) I love the HP books but I've never really been able to get into much more than that. I did like the first two or three movies but I haven't seen 4 and I doubt I'll see this one.

I even lost track of which number this movie is. So it's the 5th one, eh? (Am now starting to wonder if I ever did see the 4th).

Yep. They're two behind the books. :)

I haven't seen it yet. :p I wanted to see it today, but Ryan pouted so we went to Transformers. Now I'm waiting to see it with my mother and sister this weekend. :p

(Waiting somewhat impatiently, because the casting for one of my favourite characters is apparently BRILLIANT. :p)

What'd you think of Transformers?

I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. :p It was really entertaining, and downright FUNNY a lot of the time. :p

*raises hand, too* I haven't had a chance to see it yet, either, though I intend to soon.

I have read all the books, though the latter...3? I've only read once. Will read the last one as soon as I can get it out of one of my kids' hands. *g*

I've never been inspired to join the fandom, but I have enjoyed the books and movies. Part of that might be because when they first came out my oldest was...10, and I'd read them out loud. Stopped doing that after book 4, though. *g* And at this point? I've got to know how the story turns out. *g*

*nods* I could definitely see how having a kid could increase the fun component of HP and get you more into it.

Love HP . . . *loved* the latest movie.

But God help me, I never intend to jump on that fandom bandwagon. Too much wank and unpleasantness.

That is all I've heard about the fandom, that there is lots of unpleasantness. Is it because many in the fandom are really young?

Though I'm a fan of the HP universe to the max, I've hated the movies with a passion. They ignore my main man, Percy, and that's just not cool. Plus, they messed up Gilderoy. ;_\ (emo face)

So yeah, waiting for Deathly Hallows to come out, then I'm done with Harry Potter canon.

I haven't read any of the books either. I may have inadvertently seen fifteen seconds of one of the movies, but only because I was changing channels on the tv ;)

Nope, although I'll probably get round to seeing it before it leaves the theatres.

As for fandom, I'm not that fannish, so I'm probably not a good example. However, I thought the last book was pants, and the one before that not much better. I really prefer Diana Wynne Jones and Margaret Mahy for kidfic.

Another hand up in the not seeing, no intention to see camp.

I did see the first movie, and I've read the books. With increasingly loud shouts of "get an editor, woman".

I'm waiting with interest to see if the internet does indeed melt down on Saturday. Meantime, isn't it quiet, while those who care lock themselves away from the spoilers?

Nope, you're not the only one!

I'm not a Potterhead, either...and I've only seen one or two of the movies (only one completely through). Eh, it doesn't have to appeal to everyone either.

I wouldn't rush to see it. It was good but not great. I agree with the earlir comment about the unpleasantness in the fandom. I am a huge fan of the books and have enjoyed the movies but I would not really say I am involved in the fandom. I think if I were 12 I would feel differently about that.
