Computer problems again!

It never fails...the very day I had planned to post the first chapter of my new X-men fic, I'm having computer problems. (Am posting this from my work computer now, and I'd better get back to work fast!) I think and hope that the problem is confined to the monitor alone. It only stays on for 1 second and then switches off, no matter what I do.

I checked that everything is plugged in properly and I believe it is. I can't think of anything else to check on. I guess I'm buying a new monitor this evening.

It is indeed an old monitor, at least 6 years I'd say.

My new X-men fic has a lot of similarities to my old one...the one you didn't like that much? So don't get too excited. :-)

Oh when you put it like that I feel horrible. I was thinking about going back to that actually. Also you've improved as a writer since then (I think) so maybe I'll have to check out the new one. and maybe it will be easier to read it post by post instead of being overwhelmed but all the chapters at one time.

*hugs* I didn't mean it that way! :) I was just joking around. And hey, seriously, if you didn't care for it then you didn't care for it and I'm totally ok with that. In fact, I knew when I wrote it that it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. And you've left a lot of good FB for my Firefly fic and I do appreciate that.

Long fics do overwhelm some people, which I know limits my audience. My new X-men fic won't be as long as my old one (which was at least 750,000 words) but it will still be long.

that was a lot of words ... how many pages is that? did you use a GB's worth of space? I'm glad you've got your writing juices flowing again.

It all came to about 100,000 pages. I don't know how many GBs that was though.

I kept the old monitor...not sure how old it is but probably at least 6 years or so.

And no, nothing happened before this! It was totally out of the blue. The machine was fine yesterday evening.
