An anniversary and a sad thing

Sometime last week, a significant date passed. Doris and I met in 2002 – I think it was January 18 or right around that date. The date slipped by but that’s okay; our spa trip in December was half-holiday present to each other and half-anniversary gift. Doris isn’t into cards so that’s why I didn’t get her one, but I feel that our time at the spa was a perfect way to commemorate our 10-year anniversary. Actually, nowadays the jury is out on whether we should celebrate our anniversary based on the day we met (as we always have) or the day of our wedding last year.
And now, something sad. I mentioned that Doris and I have been watching The Biggest Loser. We alternate between watching the US version and the UK version. One of the trainers on the UK version was named Angie Dowds. We loved her. She had a tough, drill-sergeant manner, making the US’s Jillian Michaels look like a fairy princess in comparison. Doris and I would remark that Angie might be a lesbian. We both had a bit of a crush on her. Here's a You Tube clip that features her. Well, yesterday Doris decided to google Angie. On the good news side, she was a lesbian. But yeah, she was. She killed herself in November! A month before we started watching the show off You Tube, the trainer ended her life. I’m seriously sad about this. News articles mentioned that she’d split with her partner of three years. It’s just shocking and terrible that this woman who had “never give up” tattooed on her back, who seemed so together, chose to end her life at 42. Btw, am also pissed that I didn’t read about her in any of the LGBT news sources I get. As one commentator once said, Martians could land outside the US and the US press wouldn’t report on it.
