Should I do it?

Ever since I got into my new fandom, I've been kicking this question around and I haven't been able to decide. I need your help! Should I create a comm on LJ for fans of my OTP Sharon Needles and Alaska?

How bad would you feel if you started it and it didn't really take off? I personally like all this drag stuff so having it on your page doesn't bother me but I'm sure I don't speak for everybody. Has anyone complained about it?

I am seriously glad that it doesn't bother you having it here. And you ask a really good question. I guess I'd be a little sad if I started the comm and only 4 people joined, but I'd survive. Thank you for giving me something to think about!

I am in agreement with Shar on this one. How will you feel if it doesn't take off? Also, how will you feel if you end up having to police it more than your other comm (for instance if people try to post slash there)? Would it be more productive to post about A/S on the main Drag Race comm and see if you can get some discussion going there?

If you're worried about posting a lot on your journal about it, you can always create a filter. A friend of mine who plays WoW does that - she has a filter for it, says "if you don't want to hear about it, just let me know," and then she honestly isn't offended if people tell her that they don't want to be on the filter. She can post about WoW to her heart's content without worrying she's boring anyone.

Thank you. These are all good ideas and things to think about. I am more worried that there'd be no activity than that I'd have to police fanfic, but that is something to consider.

I am stumped as to why I cannot make a darn decision here! Thank you for your thoughts.

i have no problem with your love of Shalaska. Post about it all you like! (of course, we've been friends through virtually every fandom you've had, so :))

that said... i would ask yourself a few questions.

1. What do you want to get out of the community? General discussion? sharing links? Basically what I'm asking is... is there enough stuff to have a community and keep it going, particularly if you are going to restrict what can be posted there?

2. do you think there's enough interest on LJ to pull people in? and would that interest drop off when this season of drag race ends? and how would you feel about that?

i don't know the answers to those questions, and I don't know if you do either. But it's something to think about. :)

You have put up with quite a few fandoms over the decades....In fact, I did a post a month or so ago that listed all my fandoms. Lord!

Thank you for the questions. This is the kind of stuff I need to think about. I still can't figure out why I am so indecisive on this one, but maybe these q's will help me. Thank you.
