In 12 days, I’ll be on a cruise ship!

I’ve hardly blogged about it, because my head has been elsewhere, but in 12 days I’ll be on a cruise ship, heading towards Alaska. (Irony of ironies – we are going to Alaska the state, not Alaska the drag queen!) Quite a while ago, our BFF Ann shared with her friends and family that her dream was to go to Alaska, and she wanted to do so in honor of her 40th birthday. We signed right up, as did several others. We’re leaving on July 19!

I’m looking forward to it. I am still obsessed with my drag queens, but maybe having 7 days where internet access will be expensive is just what I need. I plan to still get on and tune into the world of the queens, but obviously not as often. And like anyone when faced with 6 workdays away from work, it is a bit scary. No one else does my job when I’m gone; I’m the only person at work who runs my project and since I moved into this role last August, I haven’t taken any sort of internet-free vacation at all. But it’s a big company and I’m not going to stress over it too much – the project will find a way to go on without me for 6 workdays.

I love cruises and look forward to some relaxation, time with friends, and beautiful sights. I just can’t believe that it’s only 12 days away!!

Oh, and Ann sent over a link to a list of items to pack and empty-headed me hasn’t looked at it yet.

Sounds like fun. I've never been to Alaska. I'd like to one of these days. I hope it's relaxing for you. Kinda sucks to have to be away from work with no one to replace you. Well, hopefully the enforced break from the internet will be good for you and not annoying.

That sounds groovy! I will admit that Alaska is not one of those places I ever want to visit (too. COLD.) but my Mum really liked it when she lived there (in the Navy) and she's told me that it's beautiful. And taking a cruise with close friends, kicking back and getting a technology/work vacation and seeing new things all sound wonderful! I hope it is an amazing time for you.

Thanks! I am most excited about taking a trip with friends. I mean, I love traveling with Doris but it adds a new dimension to have Doris plus others I'm close to on the trip.

Being on a cruise with good friends is probably the closest you can get to a non-stop party, I would imagine. :) There's lots to do, it's all paid for, and if you need some downtime you can take it.

it's so amazing that we're going on this trip together! i'm having some worries (but when am i not?) :) i don't think i've ever gone on vacation with family and friends before and i hope it's totally awesome :D

I think it will be awesome! The fun thing about a cruise is that we can hang together when we want and do separate stuff when we want. I love cruises and I think it'll be great to get some time together!

I still have not looked at that packing list.
