Getting serious for a moment, my gratitude journal for today will be gratitude about where I live. Listened to an NPR report today about people risking life and limb, drowing in boats, to get out of Africa and go live somewhere where they can make enough money to eat and not have to risk war and violence. I'm lucky that I never had to risk my life and leave my homeland just to try to get by.

Scary place Africa and the Middle East is at the moment. Granted, there are things that need fixing over here but compared to some places, we've got it pretty good.

I've been thankful the past several weeks that I didn't go to school in Kenya (and that my friend's family is on the OTHER side of Kenya). First Al-Shabaab kills nearly 150 people at the university in Garissa and then a lot of people were hurt and at least one person died when a generator exploded and caused a stampede at a university in Nairobi because they thought it was Al-Shabaab.
