The fight of our lives

I once took a self-defense class, and they taught that should an attacker attempt to put you in a trunk and take you somewhere else, you absolutely must fight back with everything you got, because your odds of surviving that are low. I think right now Americans are also in the fight of our lives. Trump’s only been in office since Friday and let’s take a look at the rap sheet: He has continued to lie and continued to make outrageous statements with no shred of evidence (such as claiming Hillary’s popular vote win was due to fraudulent voting, despite no evidence whatsoever). He’s issued gag orders over several federal departments and their scientists. He has threatened to impose a 35 percent tariff on goods made by American companies abroad, which would generate a trade war. He’s reauthorized the Dakota Access Pipeline. He’s signed orders to begin the insane idea of building a wall against the Mexican border (paid for by – you guessed it – taxpayers)! He’s begun work to repeal the ACA which will literally kill people (many of them Vets). He’s even threatened to send the national guard into Chicago, apparently to punish areas of the country in which he has almost no support.
We are in the fight of our lives – America is being stuffed into the trunk – and we need to fight back. Pick up the phone and call your senators and representatives. I do it all the time, it’s easy. Find a local group that is resisting him (Move On? Local Dems? A women’s or LGBT group? something), join it, and get active. I’m an introvert, I hate most people, and yet I do this. At least sign up for 4 easy, weekly actions at wall-of-us.org If you ever watched documentaries about Nazi Germany and asked yourself “what would I have done?” now is the time to find out who you really are.
