1. It's the 4th of July and Doris is off work! It's horribly hot and humid though. So our big plans for today were to have lunch at Veggie Grill (she loved it), and otherwise basically stay inside and cool. Her sister's family is coming this weekend, so our weekend will be taken up with their visit.

2. That horrible pedicure I had? Doris painted over it and my nails look so much better now!

3. I've been watching The 100. I'm only in Season 1. I love it. I'm low-key shipping 2 characters who aren't officially a couple, and I'm trying to manage my expectations (I don't think they are going to become a couple. Heck, I'll be lucky if they both just stay alive).

Dang, none of our top 5 match up! I did like Season 1 of Stranger Things but got bored during season 2, bailed, and never went back. The others I haven't even watched. Oh well. Our TV shows just aren't meant to overlap. :)

One thing I did read once is that we like things more, the more we are exposed to them. Like that there is a benefit in giving something time. I didn't like SHIELD or Legends at first and it was only because Doris talked me in to sticking with them that I did so. (But then idk, the other shows on my top 5, I loved right away).

I definitely didn't like season 2 of stranger things as much as season 1, but I'm still holding out hope for season 3 :)

Of the shows in my top 5, I really wouldn't expect any of them to have strong appeal for you. I do think some of the ones on your list would likely have more appeal for me if I had stuck it out, but I also started watching some of them with Rollin and he wasn't really into them either, which makes it harder because I try to not make him sit through shows he doesn't like and he's almost always home when I'm home except in the mornings (he goes to work much earlier than I do so he's always home by the time I get home). Sometimes I'll watch a show on my kindle or computer, and actually he doesn't really complain when I watch something that he's not really into, but since he tries to avoid watching stuff I don't like when I'm home/in the room, I try to do the same.

I still think you would like Battlestar Galactica, but I know you like having a lively fandom to participate in and that's probably long since gone since it's been off the air for so long. Also there's a whole huge plotline that was slowly revealed over the course of the seasons, so trying to avoid spoilers would be very difficult.

I totally get that it's way harder to watch something if your spouse isn't into it. And especially if you're not as home as much as he is.

You are right - I bet - on both counts on Battlestar Gallactica. I probably would love it (I remember a recent article that ranked it #1 of all sci fi shows). But without an active fandom, I won't like it as much. With The 100 right now, it's killing me - I want to participate in the fandom but I can't without experiencing a bunch of spoilers! And yet I don't want to binge it all down too fast either; I want to savor it. #FirstWorldProblems
