What the heck, I'll just do a random update on my life. Even though not much is going on.

Not moving
As Ann knows, Doris and I sat down and really discussed whether or not we could move to Santa Cruz. Bottom line is that the cons outweigh the pros so we're not going to pursue it any more. Living somewhere with good weather is apparently a perk only the rich get. (And sad thing is that I probably am richer than....Idk....80% of Americans?) We could probably afford a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom 800 sq foot unit in a building where one occupant needs to be at least age 55, which Doris is. But do I really want to live in 800 sq feet?

Work
Nothing much to report here. I am so glad we took our ESL classes online so I have stuff to work on. We've had some other things going on (tomorrow I have a call where I need to get tough with a vendor that messed up. Ugh!! Another vendor on a different project is being switched out and that's not fun either but so far it's going surprisingly well). We don't have to go back into the office till Labor Day, thank goodness.

Community activism
I miss it. I spoke with Congresswoman Underwood a month or two ago and she said someone from her campaign would contact me so I could work on texting, but that hasn't happened. Congressman Casten is having a phone banking virtual event on Saturday and I'm going to go even though I hate phone banking (and even though his seat is much safer than Underwood's, I think). I can do it for an hour. Haven't done much else other than donating, and going to two BLM marches.

Doris
Is awesome. Her business is actually doing ok now. How did I end up marrying someone who stays so positive and doesn't let stuff bother her? Oh, and the other day I asked her if she'd make this basil peach pie from a recipe book, and she did - and it was so good!!

Fandom
New episode of the 100 tonight! We're almost halfway through the season, and my OTP is still apart as one is off on an adventure on a different planet. I keep going back to the fact that the actors were clapped out on the same day. (They clap you out when it's your last time ever playing the character). It's gotta mean....
1. They ride off into the sunset together
2. The die together
3. Nothing. They don't film stuff in order so it could be coincidence

Which is it??? :)

I am selfishly glad you're staying (sorry for my selfishness :)). It also drove home that most of my social life is centered around you - the two things I (normally) look forward to every month is getting together with you for tea & scrabble/scrabble & snacks and game night. If you moved away, those would be gone. Technically we could try to have game night without you, but it would be almost impossible for Eric to get there, and michelle and meadows aren't there regularly enough for us to have a steady set date. idk if this means I need to start expanding my social circle in case you do end up able to move. Obviously not right now, but long-term. Also just to give you a ballpark idea of what 800 sq ft looks like... our house is a bit more than that. A lot of it depends on how stuff is set up. I recently discovered there's a conference room at work that has more square footage than our house and it really makes it feel tiny. There's definitely pros and cons about a free standing house vs a condo too. Bruce is currently dealing with water damage from an upstairs neighbor. Lucky for him the HOA is very involved - my friend Uma from water aerobics had a similar situation at her condo building and they told her it was between her and her neighbor and they would not get involved (and then the neighbor insisted that he wanted to do all the repairs himself to save money and got pissy with her that she wasn't comfortable with that plan). But when you've got a house, there's so much more to be responsible for - mowing the lawn/shoveling snow, maintaining bushes and gardens, any kind of issues with the roof or siding or utilities or whatnot. Some of that is true in a condo too, though it depends on the building.

Sorry about the tough conversation with the vendor, hope it goes well (and that they realize/acknowledge that they screwed up). After labor day, will you be expected to be there every day, or is there going to be more working from home?

It feels so early to be working on campaign stuff, though I suppose it makes sense.

That's great news that Doris's business is doing ok now!! I'm sure she's working a ton of hours and it's a pain in the butt but hopefully things will continue to be good. Does Doris ever get crabby? Rollin is generally pretty positive but maybe 5% of the time he gets crabby and irritable (usually due to being hangry). Rollin has been offering to cook for me lately but nothing really sounds appealing (especially when the house is hot).

Fingers crossed for a good episode tonight, hopefully they'll get a happy ending when the time comes :)
