I don't write much angst. But "Not Chosen" was pretty sad.

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yes, but it's been a long time. Someone didn't like the politics in my X-men fic, and someone hated that I wrote a F/F relationship in Jem. (And I gotta say that in the Jem fandom, I spent as much ink on straight couples as lesbian ones. But the commentator said I was wasting my talent on "angsty femslash". Hey, I guess I do write angst)! I am glad that both of these incidents were like 18 years ago

 

10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

A lot. Mostly M/M now but I can do it all (and have done it all)

 

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of

 

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! It was such an honor. Again this was ages ago, and it was X-men
 

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Twice, both in Spartacus. Both times it was/is a very good experience. My current WIP is being cowritten.

 

14) What’s your all time favorite ship?

I'm still very into Miller/Jackson (The 100) and Agron/Nasir (Spartacus) and I'd like to think I'll be into them for a very long time. I do still love all my X-men ships (RoLo, Romy, Scott/Jean)

 

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Guess what? I don't have unfinished WIPs because I finish everything!
 

16) What are your writing strengths?

I've been told my plots are awesome. My ability to outline and to complete fics. I can put out decent smut

 

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't do coffeeshop AUs or meet-cutes

 

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I'd need a lot of help to do it. And I don't care for it at all when other people do it because half the time it looks very forced or showy.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

First one I ever posted for was X-men. But I started writing fanfic on paper in the 1980's for GI Joe, Jem....and even Alien

 

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

 

My X-men trilogy or A Gift From Your Dominus. My answer is likely influenced by the fact that both fics "performed" really well in terms of reader response. My favorite fic that didn't get an overwhelming reader response is called Through Tempest and Calm. It's a post-canon The 100 fic about a couple dealing with a sexual assault and adapting to life afterwards, which is a more peaceful existence than they've ever had

Woohoo, I'm glad you did the meme!!

And okay, I want to read your Jem fic. How anyone would have a problem w F/F in Jem is mind-boggling to me--it's CANON! In the comics, anyway.

Yeah, that is so funny about Jem. Back in 2004 or so when I wrote in the fandom, the comics hadn't come out yet. I think there was a segment of the fandom that was there because they collected the dolls, and so maybe they brought a more conservative element? Of course homophobia was, without a doubt, worse 17 years ago than it is now too.

That is interesting! Incidentally, I did have a couple of the dolls back in the '80s, lol! What's hilarious about that though is so much of 80s pop culture was also, specifically, queer culture that got absorbed by the mainstream, and they just didn't know it. But yeah, in 2004 I can see people being stupid about it. F/F is still pretty rare, although not nearly as much now as it was then. I only have a couple F/F fics out there myself.

Same. Since Jem, the only F/F I've written was a couple in The 100 - but the fic wasn't just about them, it had 3 main ships in it, and one was F/F. That's like the only F/F I've written since the Jem stuff in 2004.

I wish more people, including myself!, would write it.
