1. Yesterday's game night was great. And there were two nice moments - one involving Rollin and the neighbor's cat, and one involving Michelle bringing me something I needed. (Meds for having been exhausted after having been outside in the heat at the immigration rights rally).

2. I found a person on Tumblr to chat with The 100 about. She is great! She's really helping me. (She also used to ship the 2 I ship so I can commiserate with her about the fact that things didn't turn out well there).

3. I have to say that I'm glad I have a fitbit. This might sound silly, but it does provide good insight. Like, typically on Sundays I do an hour of cardio. I used to pat myself on the back for that. The fitbit has helped me realize that other than that hour of cardio, I barely move on most Sundays. It's just good to know that you weren't/aren't really getting as many steps as you thought you were. Knowledge is power.

Not much going on here, but here are a few gratitude items...

1. I'm taking Friday off so it's a 3 day weekend!

2. Game night on Saturday! I will likely be tired as I'm going to a protest earlier in the day (over the treatment of immigrants). Before the protest I'm going to eat at my beloved restaurant Veggie Grill.

3. Still loving The 100. Trying to mentally be ok with the fact that the 2 I'm shipping don't ever become a canon couple and Very Bad stuff happens to one of them. Reminding myself that despite that, there's plenty to love with this show. I found a few folks on Tumblr to chat with about the show, and on Reddit I posted something, and some nice folks answered my questions (and honored my request for no other spoilers. Except for 1 person who spoiled something, oh well).

1. It's the 4th of July and Doris is off work! It's horribly hot and humid though. So our big plans for today were to have lunch at Veggie Grill (she loved it), and otherwise basically stay inside and cool. Her sister's family is coming this weekend, so our weekend will be taken up with their visit.

2. That horrible pedicure I had? Doris painted over it and my nails look so much better now!

3. I've been watching The 100. I'm only in Season 1. I love it. I'm low-key shipping 2 characters who aren't officially a couple, and I'm trying to manage my expectations (I don't think they are going to become a couple. Heck, I'll be lucky if they both just stay alive).

1. I have been looking for a pair of vegan shoes to replace my Clarks, for when they eventually wear out. (These are shoes that are not gym shoes, but basically walking shoes that look dressier than a gym shoe). I finally found some! They are comfortable and look way better than the Clarks. Wore them all day yesterday and they were great! (FYI, here they are: www.zappos.com/p/jbu-wildflower-moc/product/9170767 )

2. I volunteered yesterday for the local Dems' annual fundraiser. And - go me! It was after work, and much of my volunteering duties were outside, and it was 90 degrees. And yet I managed. In fact the Office Manager Karen said she was very glad I was there.

3. One Day At A Time has been rescued for another season! And speaking of TV, a new Agents of SHIELD tonight!

4. I got 2 more kudos yesterday on my FitzSimmons fanfics. I am so happy that people are going back and reading them (especially since they are like - gasp - 8 months old, which may as well be 2 centuries old in the fanfic world)

5. And it's the last Friday of the month, so Doris gets home early!

1. I forgot to write earlier that last weekend, I had all weekend with Doris which is rare. Her parents were out of town so she didn't have her usual Sunday parental visit, and she had Saturday off. So that was awesome.

2. I just love books. Not only did I recently get a good book from a Little Free Library, but I got a surprise in the mail. A couple months ago, Democracy for America had this thing where if you made a donation, they'd send you the book from the presidential candidate of your choice. They warned that it'd take a few months to arrive. I forgot about it. And then yesterday, Mayor Pete's book arrived! (Both of these book things are doubly good for me because my local library branch is closed for remodeling. I stockpiled well beforehand and still have like 8 library books here. But you know. Just in case, it's good to own a few).

3. Mom told me that some big food court opened inside the building I work in. I didn't see it because it's like on the back-end of the (big) building, which I never approach from. Today I finally checked it out, and it's good. I saw at least 2 vendors that had a vegan option. I had dinner at one of them.

1. So this is one of those small things that I love. I walked across the street to the little free library my neighbors have (if you don't know what that is, here's a link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Free_Library). And there was a book that was on my 'to read' list in there! Several times I've borrowed books that looked good, but I think this is the first time that one from my 'to read' list was there. (Also, it was a pretty new release. Valerie Jarrett's memoir)

2. Perhaps because of the FitzSimmons episode of SHIELD, in the past 2 days I got 2 new kudos on my fanfics. (It's so rare for me to get any kudos on them now - apparently since they are ancient, the newest one having been posted 6 entire months ago).

3. Doris and I did Oak Park's garden walk with my mom today, and we had nice weather and a lot of fun. And we had lunch at Munch, which was extra nice.

4. And last night I slept like a baby, which I really needed after not getting much sleep after the FitzSimmons episode.

1. No spoilers, but yesterday we got the most FitzSimmons-centric episode of Agents of SHIELD ever and it was. so. good. I actually couldn't sleep much last night just from being keyed up over it (and all the Tumblr-ing, Reddit-ing, etc over it). Sadly though I still don't seem to want to write anymore fanfic. I wish I had the desire. Well, I just need to cut myself some slack and remind myself that I already wrote 11 FitzSimmons fanfics, 3 of which were on the longer side, so it's ok if that well has run dry. Maybe it's better not to be writing; then I don't experience the "everyone gets more kudos than I!" jealousy.

2. And Doris got home from work at a reasonable hour and was able to watch it with me, and she loved it too.

3. And she has today (Saturday) off so she actually gets a weekend! The weather is gorgeous today.

1. I thought my make-up looked especially good today.

2. And yesterday I went to the upscale resale store and bought 4 tops. I wore one to work today. It's so nice to have new stuff to wear. (And since it's resale I only spent $60)

3. Doris liked the stir fry I made

4. Tomorrow we get a new Agents of SHIELD, and this one is going to be very FitzSimmons-centric. Which is good, except we know the writers are just going to torture them more

Friday was good. I worked from home, and then went to Chicago to have father's day dinner with my parents. My dad continues to recover well. Then I hit the public transportation to get home in time for SHIELD. I did a ton of walking with all the rides on public transport - I actually hit 18,000 steps! Doris got home before me, which is a rarity and was kinda cool. I got home just 10 minutes before SHIELD. So then we had a fun time watching the new episode together. No spoilers, but some good FitzSimmons moments with more to happen next week apparently.

And today has been good. My weigh-in number was super low, and I trained into Chicago to have lunch with Eric who is doing great.

Sorry my '3 things' isn't in a list at all.

1. Last entry I mentioned our trip to Starved Rock. Doris and I had more time together than we usually get. From Friday when she got home from work around 7pm to Monday (today) when I left for work at 6:30am. We usually don't get that much time together continuously.

2. A fun note - our second day at Starved Rock, my total step count for the day was a new record - 19,000.

3. I'm enjoying the show Agent Carter. So I know I'm going to be even more pissed at the fact that it was cancelled after 2 seasons. (I mean, I love Agents of SHIELD but I don't get why it's getting 7 seasons while Carter got canned after 2).

1. Had a Scrabble date with Ann today!

2. A new vegan restaurant opened in Berwyn, about 20 minutes from where I live. It was great!

3. We have lovely weather today, in the 60's. I should get out and take a walk after this.

1. Someone posted on Tumblr praise on a few of my fanfics. It's been a while, and it feels so nice!

2. Had a 1 night trip to Atlanta this week. A graduate of one of our programs was there. We made her day! She sent the sweetest email. It was awesome.

3. I'm a bit tired though, and I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday, I'm working from home, and then 3 day weekend!!

4. Also I've learned to apply foundation and I think it looks good

5. Still mildly shipping "Steggy" (Steve Rogers/Peggy Cater)

1. I'm back to feeling normal! Monday and Tuesday I was just so tired from the allergy attack. It's a blessing to feel good and have energy today

2. And today I walked home from the el. The weather was a smidge hotter than I'd like, but I still loved the beautiful trees with an array of pink and lilac colors, and the sun, and the blue sky

3. What else? Did I mention that Doris and I booked an AirBnB near Starved Rock for a Saturday in June? So that'll be nice. It's a state park about 90 minutes from us. So if the weather is good we should be able to do some nice hiking. (And if it rains all weekend, there's not a ton else to do there so it might be just a romantic weekend inside, cooking in our AirBnB)

1. Since I have vacation days to use up, I am taking Friday off - and I went ahead and bought a ticket to see Avengers. Woo! It'll be my 2nd showing.

2. Gorgeous weather today. Oh, and Doris and I got to spend all of Sunday just lazing around the house together. We haven't done that for a while

3. But damn, I feel sick again today after having been fine Saturday and Sunday. Just feeling real sluggish. I left work early today.

1. No spoilers, but Season 6, episode 1 of Agents of SHIELD aired yesterday and I am on board! I was wondering whether I'd get back into fangirl mode when SHIELD restarted, or if I'd react more how I did to season 2 of Star Trek Discovery (which I loved, but the fangirl madness did not return).

2. And hey, the weekend is here! We're taking Doris's mom out tonight (Saturday) for Mother's Day instead of tomorrow, which should mean that Doris and I actually get all of tomorrow together.

3. Weirdly I felt on Wednesday and Thursday that I might be coming down with something. But I'm fine today. Guess that went away fast.

1. I had been thinking about how I usually get a bad cold (which is probably an allergy attack that feels like a cold) every April and how lucky I was to dodge it this year. And now here I am...sick. Well, I am glad I have a job with paid sick time!

2. I did my good deed today. When I was getting off the el (I went into work and left early because of sick), a young mom was having trouble with her stroller. She had two babies on her. Another person tried to repair the stroller but couldn't. So the other person and I carried the stroller - with one baby inside - down the stairs. (We really need an elevator at our stop). And I called a Lyft to take mom and the babies to their destination since she clearly wasn't going anywhere with that stroller.

3. What else? I still loved the Avengers. I tend to book one vacation day a month - since Doris and I have no big vacation plans and I got vacation days to use up - and my next such day is a week from Friday. Maybe I will see Avengers again then. It's gotta still be in theaters by then, right?

1. Just watched Avengers with Doris, Ann, and Rollin in a double date night. I loved the movie! Really loved it, I cried more than once during it. I was thinking how sometimes in life, there are things you don't love right away. They grow on you. I didn't really love Agents of SHIELD till Season 4, and I never ever got fannish about the Avengers before. (I even TRIED to when their first movie came out, like I wanted so hard to be an Avengers fangirl but I wasn't). But now after 24 Avengers movies, now I care about the characters.

2. What else? We've had several days in a row of good weather

3. And I'm really tired right now, so I will be grateful for wine, reading glasses, and the good book I'll be curled up with in a couple hours.

1. Doris made a (vegan) chocolate pie from a recipe book, and said she enjoyed doing so and would make me anything else from the book I wanted too. Awwww

2. We had some gorgeous weather days this week, the kind of weather I love (blue skies, cool breeze) and I did a lot of walking. (Today's weather is another story though)

3. Game night is tonight. But I'm not sure if it can happen as the forecast is terrible. If it does happen, I will be grateful!

Yesterday was Easter. OMG the weather was so good. Blue sky, cool breeze, a bit of sun. I loved it so much. The day was really nice. First we had lunch at my parents', and my dad is definitely doing a lot better though he's lost a lot of weight from the chemo. Then we had dinner at Doris's parents'. Doris stayed afterwards to help her mom with work, and I took the train home. I hit 17,000 steps on my fitbit which is a new daily record for me. (Worked out in the morning, took the in-laws' dog for a walk, walked home from the el).

Heck, all of this should be all 3 things!

Although I should add that the cat is adorable and she slept on top of me in a strange position (belly up). And Doris wore a dress, which she rarely ever does and she looked too adorable for words.

1. Friday I worked from home and was surprised when Doris came home early. I forget this every year, but her staff closes the office early for Good Friday. Getting Doris home early - unexpectedly - is so awesome!

2. And today. Gorgeous springtime weather. Sunny with a cool breeze. I did what I haven't done in ages....took the el and went to Andersonville. The restaurant Kopi Cafe has delicious vegan desserts (I had a gooey chocolate caramel bar).

3. I got confirmation that Doris is off the Saturday-Monday of Memorial Day Weekend. Inspired by Ann and Rollin, I want us to have more date nights. So I planned something. Doris likes tea. Like when we went on cruises, we'd go to afternoon tea. There's even a place in Oak Park that has tea service. But now that I'm vegan, that door has kinda closed since I didn't know of any places that could accommodate. (I mean, unless I just drank the tea and avoided the cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, and all the baked goodies which have to have eggs and dairy milk in them). But....I learned of a hotel in Chicago that has afternoon tea and you can do vegan (or gluten-free). So I made reservations both at their tea place and at the hotel. It's in a great neighborhood so I'm sure we can find something else fun to do to tack onto that as well. Yay for date night!
