So it looks like there’s definitely going to be a sequel to X-men: First Class. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] calliopes_pen for posting links to articles! She posted several; here’s one.) Sounds like the studio had in mind a set dollar amount it needed to make in order to get a sequel and, surprisingly to me, it only exceeded it by about 5 million.

In my dreams, the working title for the sequel is “Azazel and Riptide: A Love Story” – but in reality, I’d be happy if they had more than eight lines between the two of them this time.

I'd be happy if Riptide got to speak or was mentioned by name, lol.

I'm not surprised the movie didn't do as well as it should have. Not because it wasn't good-I thought it was surprisingly good, despite certain flaws. But the economy sucks and people are broke, so there's not as much disposable income being spent on movie-going; plus, people are getting FED UP with how expensive theaters and snack food are. That has to be taken into account when judging how much profit was made.

Wow, those are all really good points. A trip to the theater is very expensive indeed.

The movie's probably still out in some theaters, world-wide, right? Between international showings, movie sales and rentals, and the holidays coming up-think of all those gift DVDs!-they're still gaining profits. I think it's a bit early for him to throw in the towel, profit-wise. Especially considering none of the actors are what I'd really call big name stars, in terms of the salaries they'd draw.
