I just wanted to thank the people who still read and comment on my blog. I think there are about 6 folks left who read it, and I'm not being at all facetious - I really appreciate each one of you for doing so.

For whatever reason, lately LJ's demise in popularity has really been bothering me even though LJ has been dwindling for quite some time. But even has recently as 2011 when I was really into X-men First Class, the X-men comms on LJ were buzzing; it was still a very active place.

I miss LJ being active. For my fandom now, there's good activity on FB, Tumblr, and Reddit and I've learned to appreciate those mediums for what they are and be glad they exist. But LJ was/is special. None of the above places let you combine fangirling with personal blogging and you can't get as in-depth anywhere else either. LJ has its flaws but I've also had so many good interactions and discussions here over the years.

Definitely I plan to stick with LJ as long as one or two others who I like are posting and one or two others are reading my LJ. I do seriously mourn its loss of popularity, and that's why I want to thank anyone who is reading this or even glancing at it.

Aw. :(

I don't tend to use LJ for fandom that much. I mean, sure, I have my share of fandoms, but interacting with online fans has its share of...issues...that I'd rather just not deal with. Because of Reasons.

That said, yeah, it's nice having a place that combines personal blogging and fandom so nicely. There's really nowhere else like it.

Just curious, what do you use for fandom nowadays? I know we're in different fandoms but just wondering.

Given this....what is your take on LJ's dwindled popularity?

I don't. I geek out over various things, one or two other people appear to geek out along with me, and that's all I need.

Which is why you won't see me blogging about web serials anymore, because clearly, no one on my f'list cares.

Given this....what is your take on LJ's dwindled popularity?
See above. I geek out either with one or two other people, or in a vacuum. It's always been that way with me.

Very interesting. Where do you meet the one or two other folks you geek out with?

I don't even remember. Where'd I find you? It just sort of . . . happens.

Sometimes friending memes are a way, but half the time those just sort of peter out and go nowheres. Sometimes, what'll happen is I'll join a fandom community for long enough to post recaps or icons or something, and make a new Friend through that. And along the way, we seem to find other things to geek out about.

How did we meet? A friending meme on an X-men comm or through one of my fanfics maybe?

Makes sense!

Could be! That's the thing--I seriously don't remember. It was either that, or maybe you found one of my icon-spam posts with X-Men on it back before I was locking everything and commented on it. I know there was an LGBT friending meme I did while ago, but I'm pretty sure we were already friends when that happened.

I know my current beta reader (that's [livejournal.com profile] xerinmichellex) found me by commenting on my horror community, and she's also a YA writer who loves Victorian things and Doctor Who. And [livejournal.com profile] gothrockrulz found me on a Final Fantasy community, after which we discover we're both also fans of J-rock, vampires, and symphonic metal.

Likewise. I appreciate that you take the time to read and comment on my journal. I hope that if this placve ever drops off altogether we will go back to emailing or something. I would hate to lose touch since I consider you a dear friend.

I don't think I'll ever give up LJ. It's the one place where I can do whatever I want and only show it to the people I want.

And sorry for doing a lot of lurking lately. I am buried in writing just now with the 365 Challenge, a fanfic gift exchange, a book collection, and trying to get back on the pony of updating fanfics like "Son o' de Guild." Maketh me a major lurker everywhere.

No, I'm not mad. I was worried when it happened because you just so happened to coincide with my mentioning how conservative I was and my frustrations communicating with liberals who read everything I said as disagreement when I was actually agreeing with them at the time. So I was worried, but then you said that wasn't why and it was mostly my lurkerliness and I breathed relief because I try not to let political or sensitive issues come between me and people I'm friends with.

I was frenetically cleaning out my f-list at that time and removing anyone who I thought hadn't commented for a while....but as I am in every aspect of my life, I often go too fast and make errors.

In any case, thank you for your patience. :)

Some of them just outgrew the fandom(X Files, Oz, Harry Potter) and moved on, some got tired of fandom drama, a couple just disappeared, and I have no idea what happened to them.

Several moved over to Facebook, so I'm still in contact with them there.

myspace died years ago and I think facebook is on its way out in the next 5 years if that.
From: [identity profile] stormkpr.livejournal.com
Yay, another LJ fan!

And you could very well be right. I don't think too many people predicted that MySpace would fall as fast as it did.

I'm not really into FB or tumblr - though it seems much of my flist has migrated to those locations as well. But I still prefer LJ, so I won't be going anywhere for the foreseeable future! :)

(PS - I hope you had an amazing time on your trip!)

I'm glad you still like LJ too. I do think it's a better venue than FB and way better than Tumblr. I mean you can do more on LJ than Tumblr since we can easily post pics here too!

The trip was fun and very relaxing.

You are most welcome and thank you to you for reading mine.

I really like the anonymity that LJ offers. I haven't gotten on Reddit much but I didn't care for its setup at all. I'm on FB and Tumblr but both are a little soul-sucking and odd. At least with FB one can chat in privately but I really haven't figured out Tumblr that far. I like how LJ doesn't have a 'reblog' button like FB and Tumblr do. I mean, sure, you can still steal stuff but it isn't as easy. It's nice that things get circulated but you don't have as much control on FB and Tumblr.

I'm going to be here for a while so....

BTW, I made more icons.

I like the anonymity too. That makes a difference and is very cool.

Tumblr still is weird to me too. It's a nice place to house cool images but it allows for almost zero dialog.

I'm glad you'll be around LJ for a while! It wouldn't be as fun without you.

I mourn the demise, too. I hate tumblr. It's good for looking at pictures, but I hate the lack of interaction. It's just so... shallow. Half the fun of blogging/fandom, at least for me, is the commenting and interaction with other people. Just "liking" or "reblogging" something isn't enough.

As for dwindling fandom here, in the gentlest way possible, I think if you were still talking about X-Men (there's a new Wolverine movie! the next First Class is coming out soon!), you might get some more interaction. Which is not to say you shouldn't squee about whatever you want. You absolutely should. But I think your current interests are more of a niche that is better found on tumblr than LJ.

You're right - the X-men comms do still have some activity.

And by the way, thank you for still posting in LJ. Your journal is very interesting to me. I came so close to being a parent myself and i really enjoy hearing about your life.
